Affiliate Marketing in Film
by Taymar on

A few months ago I got a message from a producer looking for content for a documentary he was working on. We got to talking, and he mentioned another film he was working on - Carma. He told me that they were doing something new and innovative with their release. I was surprised when a few months later he sent me a link telling me that I could make money by sharing the link to the film with my friends. I have to admit, this type of affiliate marketing gives me the heebie-jeebies, bringing up repressed memories of "job interviews" I had mistakenly showed up at that turned out to be weird pyramid schemes involving buying lots of stuff and pawning it off on your friends. Still, I have to give Anand credit for trying something new. Click on the link, check it out, and let me know what you think. Who knows, maybe it's a brilliant idea.

I would have loved to see this movie since my daughter , Julianna Decontreaus, had a couple shots in it. But, was her scene deleted???  Would have loved to have seen her in it.

A proud mom, Mel Decontreaus

Why does the movie start and stop???
by Fastmovie on

Thank you for your interest in Carma! Some of you have been emailing me with difficulties seeing the movie. I'm going to talk to you about how we've been testing video transfer speeds.

First of all if you have CABLE you are on a shared network with your neigbors (really). Meaning: if you are trying to watch Carma during PRIME TIME, you may experience drop-outs. So here's the tips to help

First TIP: Pause the video for a few minutes.
The movie will continue to buffer while it is paused or stopped. This gives the buffering a chance to take effect so that the play-ahead buffer compensates for your internet line dropping out.

Second TIP: Watch late at night  - the internet seems to be more reliable

Third TIP: Close all programs, screensavers, virus scanners  - Video decompression is VERY CPU intensive meaning that your computer will be using up almost all of its processing power to play the video.

This Movie Will Change You
by Viktor on

Maybe I'm biased because I'm working on encoding this movie for Internet playback, and maybe its because I've been watching the same clips over and over again to improve the quality of how film will look on your screen, but I can tell you something inside me has shifted from watching this movie, and honestly, I havent seen all of it...yet. I'm too busy working on getting it ready for you for new years eve! Just up to the first killing. It's haunting. I mean, really haunting.

Let me explain: at first glance this film is a horrifying story. It's so horrifying that it is based on true events. Everyday people do things to people that are even worse than portrayed in this film. But this film carries with it a message that isn't immediately apparent until you've seen parts of its several times.

I believe for the first time in film history, as far as I've seen, has a director attempted to explain the grisly effects of Karma (another way of saying 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you') and what happens to you when you violate that.

You can see how the characters are creating their own doom by their actions and their attitudes. As they attempt to avoid the consequences of their actions, something supernatural steps in to make sure they meet their fate: the CAR.

I believe this is an important but difficult film to watch but one that will change the way you look at the world. It's worth telling people about it. Who knows? Maybe it will help wake people up to the fact that killing breeds killing and if reality won't get you, the supernatural will!

Final TIP: I'd recommend cuddling up with someone you care about and watching it on a laptop on your bed with the lights turned off!
